Recently I had a friend to ask me what is my “go-to” beach for a quick get-away. Immediately my first response was Hilton Head. Hilton Head offers the island feel with peaceful and serene surroundings. Just watch out for the alligators. There are other nice get-away beaches that are in close proximity to Charlotte being less than 4 hours away. Here is a list of five beaches that I think you will find will satisfy your vacation goals!

Ocean Isle Beach is one of the southernmost barrier islands in North Carolina and is home to only 525 residents, making the island the best beach retreat for wanderers looking for solitude. Sullivan’s Island is an island town in Charleston that’s home to one of the best beaches near Charlotte, NC and perhaps one of the best in South Carolina. Enjoy long stretches of tranquil shores free from beachfront developments but replete with beach activities. Go kayaking, sailing, fishing, kiteboarding, and swimming in peace as you take in excellent views of stark white sand and calm waters. Expect the drive to Sullivan’s Island to take a little more than 3 hours.
Myrtle Beach is the tourist hub of the Grand Strand, a 60-mile string of nice beaches facing South Carolina’s Atlantic coast. Myrtle Beach is an iconic beach destination that can satisfy all generations. With a gorgeous shoreline home to water parks and amusement parks, Myrtle Beach offers nonstop family fun. Its beachfront boardwalk is a lovely sight too, offering arcades, and souvenir stands. Drive just a little over three hours and you’ll be rewarded by one of the best beach vacations from Charlotte!
