Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15th to October 15th in the United States. It recognizes the rich and varied cultures of Hispanic and Latino Americans, and the contributions that they have made to the United States. Here are some ways to celebrate in the Charlotte area. In addition to the list below, also try to support local Hispanic restaurants, shops, stores, eateries, etc.
September 24, 2022: Festival Latino hosted by Wow Supermarket at 2557 W Franklin Blvd from 11AM-7PM. Come out for live music, food, zumba, games, raffles, dancing and more! This is a free event.
September 30, 2022: Huntersville Latino Night being held at Veterans Park at Main & Maxwell, 201 Huntersville-Concord Road, Huntersville, NC from 5PM-9PM. Listen and dance to local bands and enjoy food and drink from local vendors. Bands include Ballet Folklorico Mexican Tradition by Julio Ruiz, Rumbao Latin Dance, and Ultimanota. This is a free event.
September 30, 2022: Salsapalooza is a celebration of Hispanic Culture at the Knight Theater, 130 North Tryon Street. Veteran member of legendary salsa orchestra El Gran Cobo de Puerto Rico, Andy Montañez, is pairing up with salsa musician Charlie Crus for an evening of hits. Tickets begin at $15+.
October 15, 2022: Hola Charlotte Festival will be held on Tryon Street, between Brooklyn Village Avenue (formerly Stonewall Street) and 4th Streets from 12PM-4PM. This annual festival features Latin American cultural performances, Latin American bands and artists, cultural dance performances, a family area and more. This is a free event.
October 15, 2022: Musica Matthews-Hispanic Heritage Celebration will take place at Stumptown Park, 120 S. Trade Street, Matthews from 5PM-9PM. There will be music, dancing, food and art. The music and games are free. Only the food and art purchases cost money.
October 22, 2022 (yes just a few days after Hispanic Heritage Month): Boriqua Fest is being held at the Catawba Brewing Company at 329 McGill Avenue, NW in Concord from 2PM-10PM. Enjoy live music, food trucks, and more. There will be dancing on the lawn of Cabarrus Brewing Company. This is a family-friendly and pet-friendly event.
