The fall is the perfect time in Charlotte for outdoor events because of the cooler temperatures and variety of colors that the fall brings. There are plenty of outdoor events on the calendar this fall. Here are 10 fall festivals and other events happening this September.
Date: August 30 to September 2, 2024
Time: 6PM to 10PM on Friday; 10AM to 10PM on Saturday; 1PM to 10PM on Sunday; 9AM to 5PM.
Place: Stumptown Park, at the corner of John and Trade Streets in Historic Downtown Matthews
Cost: Admission is free. There’s a cost for rides, games and inflatable attractions.
Features: Live music, rides, games, vendors, art, a kids’ zone and a Labor Day parade.
Date: September 6 to 8, 2024
Time: 11AM to 10PM Friday and Saturday; 11AM to 6PM on Sunday.
Place: Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 600 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC
Cost: Follow festival website for ticket prices as they have not been announced yet. In 2023, tickets were $5, with free admission for children under age 12.
Features: Food, kids’ playland, entertainment, music dancing, live reenactments, tours of the cathedral and more.
Cabarrus County Fair: Land of Sugar and Smiles
Date: September 6 to 14, 2024
Time: 4PM to 10PM Monday to Thursday; 4PM to 11PM on Fridays; 1PM to 11PM on Saturdays; 1PM to 10PM on Sundays
Place: Cabarrus Events & Arena Center, 4751 NC Highway 49 N, Concord, NC
General Admission Cost: $8 for ages 12+, $6 for ages 6-11, free for ages 5 and under, $6 for 55+ and Military personnel with ID
Features: Rides, entertainment, livestock competition, and fair food.
Charlotte International Arts Festival
Date: September 13 to 29, 2024
Time: Time varies based on event
Place: Many locations and schedule of events
Cost: Varies based on event, but much of the festival is free.
Features: The festival features interactive art installations and performances in Uptown Charlotte and Ballantyne’s Backyard. In addition, many Charlotte festivals during this time period will be a part of Charlotte International Arts Festival. CIAF is one of Charlotte’s most anticipated festivals of the year.
Date: September 14 and 15, 2024
Time: 12PM to 8PM on Saturday; 12PM to 6PM on Sunday
Place: Saturday: Belk Theater, 130 N Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC. Sunday: Ballantyne’s Backyard, 11611 N Community House, Charlotte, NC
Cost: Saturday: $5 in advance, $6 at the door, free for kids under 10. Sunday: Free
Features: Celebrate India with traditional and Bollywood dances, exhibits, visual arts, souvenir bazars, Indian food and much more.
Cornelius Festival of Cultures
Date: Saturday, September 14, 2024
Time: 3PM to 6PM
Place: Cain Park, 21336 Catawba Avenue, Cornelius, NC
Cost: Free
Features: Live performance, art, cultural booths and food from many cultures.
K-Fest: Celebration of Korean Culture
Date: Saturday, September 14, 2024
Time: 12PM to 8PM
Place: Seoul Food Meat Co. Mill District, 421 E 26th Street, Charlotte, NC
Cost: Free
Features: Music, karaoke contest, K-Pop dance contest, martial arts. Food and drink for purchase.
Date: Sunday, September 15, 2024
Time: 12PM to 6PM
Place: Route 29 Pavilion, Concord, NC
Cost: Free admission. Possible charge for parking
Features: Family-friendly Hispanic Heritage festival. Music, traditional food, crafts, dancing and family activities.
Date: August 31st and September 1, 2024
Time: 8AM to 10PM on Saturday, and 12PM to 10PM on Sunday
Place: Locations in McAdenville and Cramerton, NC
Cost: Many of the activities are free to enjoy, but some are ticketed.
Features: Live music in Cramerton and McAdenville, art show, kids’ activities, vendors, and a group trail run/hike. The highlight is a floating concert down the South Fork River, between McAdenville and Cramerton. The floating concert is $32.55 if you bring your own boat and $58.82 if you rent a kayak.
UNC Charlotte International Festival
Date: Saturday, September 21, 2024
Time: 10AM to 6PM
Place: Barnhardt Student Activity Center, 9290 Barnhardt Lane, Charlotte, NC
Cost: Free
Features: This long-standing festival on the UNC Charlotte campus features booths from diverse cultures, dance and music performances, international games and the Parade of Nations.
