The fall season is quickly approaching which means time for all things Pumpkin, including visiting pumpkin patches with friends and family. Pumpkin patches are great for picking out the perfect pumpkin for carving and they also offer other activities like farm rides, picking apples, sipping on Apple Cider and more. Here are a few of the best pumpkin patches to visit in and surrounding the Charlotte Area.
Charlotte Nights Pumpkin Patch @ Truist Field, 324 South Mint Street, Charlotte, NC: Saturday, October 7th, Truist Field in Uptown is transforming into a patch with thousands of pumpkins for sale. It is also the ballpark’s first Mecklenburg Oktoberfest. You can expect German beers and brats, live music, farmers’ market vendors and more. They will open at 11AM and will end once all pumpkins are sold out. The pumpkins are first come, first served. The price is $10 for a small pumpkin and $20 for a large. The event is free. A portion of each pumpkin purchase will benefit Charlotte Knights Charities Foundation.
Hall Family Farm @ 445 West Rebound Road, Lancaster, SC: Beginning Friday, September 22nd, you will be able to spend an entire day at Hall Family Farm by roaming through the 7-acre corn maze, going pumpkin picking, hopping on the musical hayride and eating apple cider doughnuts by a bonfire. Hours of operation are Sunday 9AM-6PM, Wednesday-Thursday 11AM-6PM, Friday 11AM-10PM and Saturday 9AM-10PM. They are closed Sundays and most Mondays. Admission is free, but some other costs include: Pumpkins: 70 cents per pound. Hayrides: $4. Corn maze: $4 (small); $11 (large). See their website for a full list of activities and other information.
Hodges Family Farm @ 3780 Rocky River Road, Charlotte, NC: Located in east Charlotte, Hodges is a short drive for those looking to stay in the city. In addition to a pumpkin patch, visitors can expect hay bales for climbing, barn animals, photo ops, picnic areas, hayrides (for a fee) and treats like kettle corn and funnel cakes available for purchase. They open Saturday, September 23rd through Tuesday, October 31st, 9:30AM-5:30PM (7 days a week). As of now, hayrides are only available Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is free, but parking is $5 per car on Saturday and Sunday.
Bush-N-Vine Farm @ 1650 Filbert Highway, York, SC: About an hour outside Charlotte, Bush-N-Vine Farm has a café with a menu ranging from apple cider donuts and ice cream to hot dogs and quesadillas. You will also find U-pick pumpkins and a one-mile walking trail. Pumpkins under five pounds are for $1.15 per pound, and pumpkins over five pounds are .69 cents per pound. They are open Monday-Friday 8AM-6PM; Saturday 8AM-5PM.
Carrigan Farms @ 1261 Oak Ridge Farm Highway, Mooresville, NC; This Mooresville family farm has U-pick pumpkins by day, and transforms into a haunted attraction called Scarrigan Farms by night. Apple cider donuts and apple cider slushies are available from the food truck Saturday-Sunday. They will be open beginning September 30th, 10AM-3PM, seven days a week. Reservations are required for $15 per person ($5 online deposit; $10 at the door). Price includes a pumpkin from the patch. Each trip to the pumpkin patch includes a hayride to the petting zoo and pumpkin field, per the farm.
Cherry Place Farm @ 1922 Oakdale Road, Rock Hill, SC: Cherry Place Farm’s October festival allows visitors to go on self-guided tours of the farm, which has a two-acre corn maze, pumpkin patch, farm animals, kids’ activities and free popcorn. They are open every Saturday 10AM-6PM and Sunday 1PM-6PM in October. Admission is $10 per person and free for children under two. All activities (e.g., hayrides, corn maze, and animal petting) are included. Carving-size pumpkins are $9.
Millstone Creek Orchards @ 506 Crossroads Church Road, Ramseur, NC: The orchard is known for its “Pumpkin Pickin’ Adventure,” an experience focused on pumpkin picking and education that includes access to the patch, a four-ounce apple cider slushie, pumpkin seed tasting, an apple cider demonstration, a hayride through the orchard and a $3 credit towards a pumpkin. Pumpkin Pickin’ Adventures begin Saturday, September 30th and run every weekend in October. The Pumpkin Pickin’ Adventure is held only on Saturdays and Sundays, but the farm is open seven days a week, Monday-Saturday 9AM-5PM, Sunday 1PM-5:30PM. The adventure is $17.95 per person; free for kids 2 and under.
Patterson Farm @ 10390 Caldwell Road, Mount Ulla, NC: In addition to pick-your-own pumpkins, Patterson Farm has a corn maze, a playground, a corn pit and other kid-friendly fall attractions. They open Saturday, September 23rd through Friday, November 3rd, Tuesday-Saturday 9AM-6PM, Sunday 1PM-6PM. Admission to the patch is free, and pumpkins are priced by the pound. Shelby Corn Maze and Patch @ 120 Broadway Drive, Shelby, NC: Admission to the farm includes pumpkin picking, an 8-acre corn maze and more than 40 attractions. There is also a haunted corn maze after dark on Fridays and Saturdays. They open Saturday, September 16th through Sunday, October 29th; Fridays 4PM-10PM, Saturday 10AM-10PM, Sunday 2PM-8PM. The patch closes at 7PM on Fridays and Saturdays in October. Admission is $15 and includes the corn maze, a hayride to the pumpkin patch plus four activity tickets. Pumpkins are priced by size. Get a haunted maze pass for $15 or a farm and haunted maze pass for $22.
Wise Acres @ 4701 Hartis Road, Indian Trail, NC: Who said pumpkins and pizza do not go together? They most certainly do on a nice fall sunny day! Wise Acres also has a corn pit, wagon rides, a corn maze, zip lines, playgrounds and a barrel train. They are open Saturday, September 16th through Sunday, November 5th, times vary. Reservations are required. The farm is open Thursday-Sunday, with pizza available Friday-Sunday. Admission is $3 per person (without pizza) or $29 for two pizzas, plus $3 per person admission. Pumpkins are priced per pound. Other activities are available for an extra cost.
Linebergers Maple Springs Farm @ 906 Dallas Stanley Highway, Dallas, NC: Located thirty minutes from Uptown, the family-owned Dallas farm celebrates fall with a pick-your-own pumpkin patch, wagon rides, chick feeding, plus 100 varieties of pumpkins and an array of treats in its market. They are open Monday-Friday 9AM-6:30PM, Saturday 9AM-6PM, Sunday 12PM-6PM. Admission is free. Heirloom pumpkins are .75 cents per pound. Carving pumpkins are .99 cents per pound. Wagon rides are $7 (includes a pumpkin, gourd or squash from the patch). They will run only on weekends in September and every day in October. There is also a free kids area, including tire mountains, a sandbox, slides, swings and more.
