Charlotte is constantly adding new bars and restaurants to the list of places to eat, dine and frequent. Below is a list of a few most anticipated bars and restaurants coming to the Queen City before 2022 ends! Please check with the restaurants websites for accurate or updated opening schedules.
Que Fresa: A new Mexican restaurant by the same owners of Que Onda will offer “preppy tacos” and “ritas” in west Charlotte, where the frequented Picante used to be. They will honor Picante’s affordability reputation and daily food/drink specials like “Taco Tuesdays”. Expect 15-20 signature tacos on the menu, plus shareable plates, sandwiches, wraps and desserts. Opened October 7, 2022
Milkbread: Joe and Katy Kindred, local restaurateurs with a name known around the country, are taking over the old Dairy Queen building in Plaza Midwood with an all-day cafe. It’ll be an all-day café offering milk bread doughnuts, crispy chicken, vegetable-focused bowls, and salads, with coffee, espresso and non-alcoholic drinks . Opening mid-October 2022.
Urban Sweets: Urban Sweets started off as a food cart and has been rolling around the city since August 2021 at events like the Bayhaven Food Festival, Bop Around the Block, Charlotte SHOUT! and the South End Farmer’s Market. You can sit indoors or outdoors while enjoying ice cream, milkshakes, sundaes and hand-painted chocolates. They also have a subscription service that delivers four pints of ice cream a month to your home for $300 a year. Opening in October 2022.
RSVP South End: A one-stop shop with four different event spaces in one. The acronym for RSVP is a description of each space: rooftop, stage, veranda and parlor. The nightlife experience will house two rooftops, a bar, lounge and club. Each space has a different mood that allows you to feel like you are in an entirely separate venue. Drinks and food options will vary depending on the space. Opening end of October 2022.
Azul Tacos and Beer: A fast-casual authentic Mexican street food experience with a modern vibe. Expect tacos, burritos, tortas, mulatas and ceviche to be served in the 2,700-square-foot space on Thrift Road. You can also buy a pack of their handmade tortillas and a few pounds of meat to make something at home. Drink options will be mostly based around Mezcal and tequila. They’ll also offer agua frescas (a water and fruit drink) and Mexican soda. Opening Fall 2022.
Weathered Souls Brewing Co.: A Texas-based brewery that was co-owned by the founder of the Black is Beautiful initiative that swept the country in 2020. Co-founders, Marcus Bakersfield and Mike Holt, opened Weathered Souls in San Antonio, Texas, in 2016. It quickly grew in popularity and has since earned numerous accolades, including “Best Craft Brewery in the Country” by Hop Culture Magazine. It will open locally on Clanton Road. Opening November 5, 2022.
