The weather is warming up and the urge to hit some water is ramping up! Although Charlotte is landlocked, you can make a day of hanging out on Lake Norman, Lake Wylie and/or Mountain Island Lake. One of my favorite activities to do on the lake is boating. Before going boating (unless you own a boat) you must make a reservation, take a free safety online class or hire a captain to operate the boat. Here are 5 boat rentals near Charlotte to check out this summer.
Black Boat Club, owned by Corinna DeWitt and Tarrence Dent, operates primarily on Lake Norman but will also go to Lake Wylie. Their reservations typically sell out quickly every weekend, so make sure you try to plan a month in advance. They operate 2 pontoons and a sportsboat. They offer three time slots on the weekends: 10am to 2pm ($350), 3pm to 7pm ($350) or from 11am-7pm ($550). Weekday rentals cost $310, and are available during the same time slots, but only for four hours. Hiring a captain is an additional $150 for four hours. Two-hour sunset cruises on Tuesdays and Thursdays for $250. This comes with the captain and you can add on cheese/wine for $60. Best way to book is online.
