Due to the recent quarantine that we all experienced during 2020 because of COVID, a common theme that I am hearing from friends and family is the need to get out and walk or hike for some active activities.

Charlotte and the surrounding areas have amazing and beautiful places where people can experience a good hike and experience gorgeous scenery. Here are 5 of the best places to hike in and around Charlotte.

South Mountain State Park Known for its gorgeous waterfalls @ 3001 South Mountain Park Ave. Connelly Springs, NC 28612

Gorges State Park and the Foothills Trail Known for its intense hikes and camp grounds @ 976 Grassy Ridge Road, Sapphire, NC 28774

Crowders Mountain State Park (Boulders Access) Known for the boulders and less crowded area @ 108 Van Dyke Road, Kings Mountain, NC 28086

Rocky Face Mountain Recreation Area Known for rock climbing @ 3451 Rocky Face Church Road, Hiddenite, NC 28636

Grayson Highlands Known for its highlands and wild ponies @ 829 Grayson Highland Lane, Mouth of Wilson, VA 24363
